The first hot night of summer
Fans of hot air
Assailing and accosting us
As we powerlessly sleep,
Trembling in the hot,
Sticky from the heat,
I do not want to touch you.
I want to cry and thrash about,
And beg you to close out
Any oppressive light.
In the cool shade
I will clutch you, and lick
The salty sweet from your shoulders,
And make you mine again.
Summer is unkind to lovers
Who cannot kiss in feverish days,
Or do anything by lie still in the flu of night,
While cicadas hum,
And moth's wings flutter
Against the streetlamps
Someone forgot to turn off.
Raggedy Ann needed Raggedy Andy
To hold her up.
She couldn't grasp her ideals in gangly arms,
Or stand on them with unsteady legs.
So, she threw herself into him,
Body limp,
With her heart printed on her chest in red ink.
Raggedy Andy felt ugly;
His yarn hair falling out in clumps
From the stress
Wobbly limbs couldn't hold.
Raggedy Andy was tried
Of being part of Raggedy Ann and Andy
Of being expected as a duo
Instead of as a solo act.
Raggedy Andy wanted something more,
Though he couldn't quite place his finger on what.
He knew himself to be outgrowing the toybox,
To be dreaming of far-off adventure.

Hi all,
So, I started a new project I'm really excited about. It's called "Why do we have to read this?" and it's a book review blog. But not your average book review blog.
Since I was in high school I've kept a list of all the books I've read both for school and for fun. I've going back over the list and reviewing the books on it. I'm taking a closer look at the books I read for school to see what the big deal was. And what about all those "for fun" books--do they have a place in the education system of today?

So please, please check it out! Who knows, maybe you're learn something, or maybe you'
I stole this from ~JadedNights (https://www.deviantart.com/jadednights) who took it from someone else. Mad props to whoever came up with this originally, it was a fun way to kill time on Monday afternoon

Hi everyone,
Just a note to say I have some pictures on display/for sale at Funk n Waffles in Syracuse! There's a set of three hanging now but hopefully there will be more in the future. So if you're in the area grab a waffle, listen to some good tunes, and check out the artwork. Cheers! =)
